News just in! As an alternative to PVC and the much more sustainable pineapple leather comes ‘Desserto’, – a luxury leather alternative made from the nopal cactus native to Mexico!
Adriano Di Marti is the brand behind this new creation, who showcased their creation at the Lineappelle International Leather Fair, in Milan this October.
The creators, Adrian López and Marte Cázarez combined their expertise and enthusiasm for a new sustainable leather after a meeting of minds, and created their brand, Adriano De Marti, and their first offering.
It was two years in the making but the result is amazing.
The material is durable, strong, flexible, fully customisable, and breathable.
Leather and material experts at the Lineappelle expo were all immediately impressed and have confirmed that the product is suitable for many applications in the luxury market due to its qualities of strength combined with flexibility, its softness to the touch and ability to take colour.
An important factor in its sustainability aside from it being at least partially biodegradable is that cacti don’t take much water to grow! This makes it possibility the very best kind of leather yet! Nopal cacti is native to Mexico and already abundant throughout the country.
Many industries are interested in the product and the two friends are already beginning to work on project development with several large companies.
